Kid's Climbing at Extreme Edge Hamilton
Extreme Edge Hamilton is the perfect indoor 'playground' for kids of all ages.
With over 30 different creatively themed ClimbZone walls, you can climb anything from an enormous dinosaur skeleton, to a giant beanstalk or even clamber up the sails of a pirate ship!
There's no shortage of fun for kids and adults alike - entertainment for the whole family is what we're about!
For kids who are bitten by the climbing bug we offer our Rock Hoppers Club - more info further down the page. These are scheduled classes teaching a variety of skills and technique required to climb routes of increasing difficulty level. The emphasis is still on fun but it gets more challenging as the kids get better at climbing.
We require shoes to be worn when climbing the walls (standard trainers are best) and for your safety, no jewellery such as necklaces or rings is permitted, plus no jerseys with hoods (however hoods can be tucked in if it is really cold).
Please note: Children under 16 years must be actively supervised by an adult.
Our friendly climbing instructors are always on-hand to assist.
ClimbZone
ClimbZone is a revolution in child-centred climbing and is a great place for kids to begin their climbing journey. Catering for kids from 3 years old and all fitness levels, ClimbZone is one of the most inclusive family-friendly activities in the Waikato.
Our 35 vibrant, creatively themed ClimbZone walls are guaranteed to entertain, exercise and exhilarate the entire family. Parents will be reassured by our state-of-the-art automatic belay system, which
eliminates the need for a human belay, enabling even the youngest of visitors to take personal control of their own climbing. The automatic belay takes in as your child climbs and lowers them gently once they reach the top or their limit! Our ClimbZone walls are equally thrilling for adults. Please note that under 16’s must be actively supervised by an adult.

Rock Hoppers Club - Hamilton

The kids are coached by experienced staff, one of whom was the national coach for 2014.
Through age-appropriate games, activities and lessons, we teach a range of concepts and techniques including:
Climbing safety
Knot tying
Communication
Belaying
Slack lining
Equipment knowledge
Route reading
Hold identification
Footwork
Competitions
Trips to competitions are an option, although attending competitions held at Extreme Edge Hamilton is strongly encouraged.
Classes are held on Mondays at 4.30pm or 6pm. These are popular sessions, so make sure your reserve your place well before the upcoming term. You can reserve your place by calling us on (07) 847 5858. Cut off for registration is after the second session of the term.
The minimum age for this class is 8 years old.
Younger children will benefit greatly from climbing on a regular basis so if you think you would like to get more serious in the future, keep on climbing in the mean time.
Super Hoppers - Hamilton
We also run a training squad for more experienced young climbers.
This is an option for kids who are getting to a competitive level and are regularly climbing more than once a week. It is compulsory to complete the course run on Mondays or a similar class at another wall before being invited to join this training squad. If you have been involved in coaching programs in another city, ask us about this group.
